About five months ago I met a really nice guy at college. We seemed to get along well, talking quite often--nothing really personal, though. He seemed to like me but sometimes I wasn't really sure. At times, he would look for me and we would talk but at other times he seemed not to notice I was there. He even said we were friends and we would get together but it never happened. Now he is gone--transferred to another college--I don't know where. He never told me he was leaving. Now I am so sad. I miss him so much. All I do is cry and feel sad all the time. What is wrong with me? I don't believe you can fall in love that quick--especially since we never saw each other that often and I never really got to know him well. Why am I feeling this way and how can I stop feeling so miserable?

Hi Venni2007.
I don't think that you 'loved' this guy. It seems that you were infatuated with him. You saw something in him that he didn't see in you. He gave you mixed signals that left you feeling unsure about how things stood between you both. And now he's gone, leaving your hope for some sort of relationship unfulfilled and you feel rejected and abandoned. How can you get over him? Pick yourself up and emerse yourself in schoolwork. When you're not doing that, hang out with some good friends. Remember that he said you were 'friends', but true friends don't just up and leave without saying goodbye. Other than a few conversations, this guy never had an interest in you. Don't waste your time being 'hung up' on him and 'what could have been'. And don't go around campus asking his whereabouts, because that will only keep you stuck in memories. Just let it go. I'm sorry that you feel so sad right now, but rejection is something that we all go through. We learn from it and, many times, that's what leads us to 'Mr Right'.
