    Drinking, Getting Drunk & Pressure

My two best friends really like getting totally wasted. They always sit there and tell me to just get drunk and have fun, but that's not my idea of having fun. I mean, when I do drink something (I'm 18) I usually have like a margarita or something really fruity with my parents. And I dont even finish the drink. Alcohol just isnt something I'm into. Whenever my friends talk about getting wasted a sleepover my usual excuse lately is "Busy day tomorrow, sorry I cant stay over. Maybe next time." This is ALL to avoid watching them get wasted off their butts and look like total morons. Sorry, but I dont want to clean up after their butts if my one friends mom (who is pretty much Hitler strict) were to come home or wake up.

I've been told to losen up and just have fun, but my idea of having fun is grinding in a club with blasting music, wearing a tiny outfit and smoking Hookah. I'm not a **** though, I swear. Or going to my favorite bands concert and screaming until my voice is completely gone. Conviniently enough, those things are NOT my friends ideas of fun. (Especially because their Belibers & I'm having a JoBromance and a Big Time Rusher. I know; I have a boy band problem.) Maybe someday I'll be into drinking, but I just dont care for it right now.

Yeah, get new friends. Seriously, they won't change in a hurry, so better find people who share your own interests.

Seems you don't share the same interests as your current friends do, which means it is time to move on and find people to hang out with who actually enjoy doing the same things you do.

Either continue setting limits or find some new friends like others suggested. We often become who we hang out with.

I was in similar situations, and try not to make the same mistake I did...GIVING IN when you don't want to get drunk.

I'm like you, I'm not into going to the pub or watching football or rugby, I actually dislike pretty much all sport. I'm happy to have a few drinks and let my hair down if I go somewhere new and fun but I wont get drunk for the sake of it, or because everyone else is. In fact, I actually believe one of the reasons people get so drunk in clubs is because they're so boring you have to in order to enjoy yourself.

As we grow older our interests can develop and change leaving us with much less in common with our friends than we previously had. Time to move on and find some new and interesting people who share your interests I think.

Nothing wrong with not being into drinking. I didn't have my first drink until I was 22. The next time they push you to come and drink with them, tell them you'll only go with them to record their drunk behinds being stupid and you'll put it on youtube for everyone to see.
