I would say it is only a matter of time before he becomes abusive to you. Since you said yourself you just got out of an abusive relationship before you met him, that's your red flag! I am speaking from personal experience when I say you need to be on your own and enjoy it before you can be with someone. Before I met my current bf, I made sure I was single and happy for a long time.
