Okay wait...slow down. Who treats you like a punching bag? Kids, friends, family?
Having kids is like trying to watch 10 mice run free...it feels almost impossible at times.
VENT woman...write till your heart's content. lol.
And good mom friends are hard to find. Maybe you need to do the "mom and kids" swim nights...meet mothers like yourself? -
I guess you're talking about some friends of yours who want to hang out with you but can't understand your lifestyle.
Obviously that's super-frustrating and you deserve a vent! But there are also some things you can do to improve the situation. First, you should decide how healthy the friendship was in the first place, before kids came into the picture. If it wasn't healthy, kick them to the curb and don't let them fuss at you anymore.
But if the friendship is healthy, if your friend is normally a kind and thoughtful person but is getting frustrated, you should really take a look at whether his/her requests are reasonable. Ask if she's willing to compromise with you. She wants to get coffee? Ask if you can brew some up at home and have a dinner table chat. She wants to go to the theater? Ask if you can wait to rent the movie and have a girls night in after the kids are asleep.
There are some situations where you just can't get away from your kids. Maybe you don't have a babysitter, legitimately don't have anybody you can trust with your kids for some reason, or you can't afford to hire one for a night out. But it's very important that you get time to spend on yourself. This is a HUGE mom problem ... I'm guilty of it! Depending on what your situation is, it is vital that you give yourself time. Get the father of your children to watch the kids for a while if he's in the picture. Find a trusted friend to watch them. Exchange child care with anther mom. At the very least, take some time when they're asleep to kick your feet up, drink a glass of wine (or chocolate milk, whatever's your fancy!) and watch something not made for preschoolers.
Nature gives us shapeless shapes,
Clouds and waves and flame,
But human expectation is that love remains the same,
And when it doesn’t, we point our fingers and blame.
Register|Contact Admin|Email Admin
Comment
