Outbound links are not allowed - sorry, it's the rule. But feel free to tell people exactly what you googled and the title/author of the article if you want to reference it here.

Let's keep it classy in here, people... If you feel yourself getting heated, take a while before you post so you don't say something out of line.

Mmm... opinions aren't studies. First, outbound links aren't allowed, second, I followed it anyways. There's no "proof" it just looks like an opinion piece. Google "causes of divorce in America" and the first link I found was from buzzle. FYI, "being ****s" wasn't on the list of reasons. Although, infidelity was, but that has nothing to do with "saving the goods" for marriage, since they're already married.

Edivorcepapers has a list as well. Again, per-marital sex isn't on the list.

The fourth site I looked at was a PDF from USU's edu page, and is what looks to be a university class. It states that 40-50% of first marriages end in divorce. I'd be curious to see what the rate is for second marriages. Point 4 on the PDF states that those couples living together *with another person* tend to have a higher divorce rate, but those who live together first with just the couple tend to not have as great a chance ending up in divorce.

I'm sorry about the links mod, didn't know there is such a rule. Anyways, a few posts ago was supposed to be my last post to buddhaboy and CW. This is really will be my last post. I'm really2 sorry if I have said anything that is out of line or incriminating. I know this has been a sensitive issue for decades. My only intention is to share this information that I pick up here and there. I never say its absolute truth, Do Your Own Research, ask your brothers, husbands, son.. read poems, bibles, old stories, its in plain sight. Unless you don't care or don't want to know, then of course there is no need for such heavy lifting... Thanks all for reading and participating.

the study you linked (before it was removed) is 9 years old. Here is a more recent study that found "Our work shows that, since the mid-1990s,
whether men or women cohabited with their spouse prior to marriage is not related to maritalstability."

Manning, W. D., & Cohen, J. A. (2012). Premarital cohabitation and marital dissolution: An examination of recent marriages. Journal Of Marriage And Family, 74(2), 377-387. doi:10.1111/j.1741-3737.2012.00960.x

These studies, including the one you cited, show that the two issues MAY be related. But it did not state a cause and effect. Your study even explained its limitation. Like I mentioned before, it did not look into female education and financial independence which I am betting has a huge influence on marriage and divorce.

Here is another study "Results suggested that being in different types of cohabiting relationships was associated with different risks and benefits in terms of relational outcomes. Engaged cohabiting couples who have an agreed trajectory toward marriage appear to do as well, or better, than other types of couples. Cohabiting couples who are not utilizing cohabitation as a current pathway toward marriage appeared very similar to non-cohabiting dating couples. It was also found that couples with ambiguity regarding their perceived movement toward marriage were at risk for negative relationship outcomes compared to other couple types."

Willoughby, B. J., Carroll, J. S., & Busby, D. M. (2012). The different effects of “living together”: Determining and comparing types of cohabiting couples. Journal Of Social And Personal Relationships, 29(3), 397-419. doi:10.1177/0265407511431184

The second set of statistics you linked were basically a single person's opinion. It was not referenced to any study. So I'm not even going to address them.

I think that in general I prefer women who have at least some sexual experience as opposed to none. I would like her to know what she wants when she decides she wants me. Yes, a blank slate might be fun, but it is hard to say what will happen when she gets some experience. Will she be happy with what she gets from me or will she wonder if there is more out there?

Lack of marriage between couples can be attributed partially to the loss of a higher status for being married. Many if not most things are available as singles these days. Both partners usually earn wages. If wages are fairly equal, taxes can actually penalize marriage in the USA. Why tie up finances in that case. No particular penalty for having children out of wedlock. Then why marry? At one time, marital status could be a deciding factor for job advancement and even for getting a job. There are many other factors working against marriage. Why attribute the lack of marriages to women having sexual relationships before marriage?
