Separation
I've recently split up with my husband of nearly 28 years. The only regret I have is that I waited so long. Don't get me wrong he's a fine man but in hindsight I married him for all the wrong reasons. My problem is, how do I get my confidence back and how do I start dating again? I've recently lost over 30 lbs but need to lose the same again. Is there any men out there that like "slightly" overweight 50 ish women or are they all looking for a younger model? -
Hi Libbie.
My honest thoughts are, wait on the dating until you feel back in control of your life, your new life, the one where you can be who ever you want and do what ever you want.
Once you get to that stage, you know yourself and you know what you will and will not accept this time around and once you know that, you will walk with confidence, grace and air and trust me, people recognise it, body language and language itself is a great thing.
Lonliness will creep in but remind yourself, you are doing this for you, you want to get it right this time, for the rest of your life.
50 something is young
I was 44, I am engaged and have been now for nearly 3 years. Complication of Divorce is why we aren't already married but we live together..
Dating sites be wary, alot of guys think they want someone in their lives but prey on the vulnerable, hense why I am suggesting this strategy first and for-most, so you can weed out the "buggers"
Also they may put a 10 year old picture up, may converse perfectly over the net but in real life upon meeting, are older and can't communicate at all...
The up-side of it, it does give you confidence, you do get to dress up and have a coffee, (no wine it will cloud your judgement) and go back home knowing you went out on a date. Sometimes you can make "men" friends that are just friends as well, someone to go out with at least and mingle with to meet others.
The world is your oyster.. A new beginning is waiting....PUT A LITTLE 'LIKE' IN MY SOUL! -
There will plenty of men interested in you when you are ready to start dating again.I have but one lamp by which my feet are guided, and that is the lamp of experience.

Shall we gather strength by irresolution and inaction? Shall we acquire the means of effectual resistance by lying supinely on our backs and hugging the delusive phantom of hope, until our enemies shall have bound us hand and foot?
