When you have to talk to him about something that you fear will cause a conflict prepare yourself first.
#1 To yourself, finish this sentence: "When I tell him this, I am afraid that ________________." And "he'll get mad" is NOT good enough. It has to be more like. "I am afraid he will think ___________, feel ______________, and do ______________."
#2 Prepare him before you raise the issue by saying: "I need to talk to you about something but I am afraid that you will think ____________, feel ___________ and do _______________. Will you please promise me you will try to stay calm and talk this out before you do anything?"
#3 You can also add, "If would really help me do this if you would ______________ (choose one: stay calm, hug me, not look at me, promise me you will _______, etc, etc.)
#4 Don't assume that a catastrophe will happen. Most things don't result in that.

That's the only advice I have sorryComment
