    Inappropriate or overreacting

    Hi all,

I'm a 22 year old woman, currently living with my boyfriend of four and a half years. We keep active with each other's families (have been since the start), and both our families seem to have liked us, and joke about when we're getting married. My bf and I are both in college - he's graduating soon, and I just started graduate school.

Recently the bf posted a normal Facebook status on students who are unable to properly use a library - in this case, a few female students talking loudly on cell phones about inappropriate topics. He wasn't too happy with the noise or the topic they chose to create. His aunt, who is mid 50s (?), and a mom herself, posted back: "At least one of them likes you and is hoping you will notice them. If you are interested flirt. If not move and make sure they don't move with you. It must be so hard to be cute smart and a college hottie.", followed by an excuse in the form of whoops, sorry, I was drunk.

I'm offended by her statements. Firstly, she's his aunt, and they're not close. To me, saying that is just a little weird to begin with. Secondly, it makes me feel like she has completely forgotten the four years + that we have been dating, or that she doesn't like me. Also, when you are in your mid-50s, in my personal opinion you should be past the stage of drunkenly posting things on Facebook.

I'm not sure if I'm reading too much into this, or I should just ignore her drunk statements. Am I overreacting to this? The bf just laughed it off as her being drunk.

Don't read anything into it. She is just embarrassing herself.

Okay. I think the surprise that she would even post something like that got to me for a little bit and I over thought it. I'm still not impressed by any means, but I'm not as hurt.

She probably thought she was being funny.
That which we forget may as well never really happened.

I'm 50 and I've written stuff on facebook thinking it was funny, after a glass or two of wine, only to feel the same way, oops

She's probably lonely, single, or married and lonely... We are quite flirtatious at 50 remembering when we were 20

Don't stress over it... Find it amusing as well.. You'll get to that age yourself one day and realize that we are only as old as we feel.

That is a bit inappropriate if you ask me, and I would be offended too. Is it your boyfriends fault? Not really, but he might want to limit what some people can read and post on, on his facebook. That is disrespectful and a bit embarrassing... where is her head, drunk or not... geez.
