If the man wants a relationship, it's very difficult to let him know you only want to be friends without hurting his feelings, but it's something you need to do in order to keep from crushing him later.
Quite a few of my best friends are male. If you make it clear that you are not available for relationships, it shouldn't become a problem.

hello raven and welcome on board.
yeah, it is very possible but difficult and rare.
There is no way u can tell a guy u want nothing more than friendship without hurting his feelings cos if u are not direct and blunt about it, he will keep on disturbing u, thinking u may change ur mind. What I do in such case is that I let u no I like u just as a friend but that I can never be romantically involved with u, but if u persist, I stay away from u for like a week or two, then I will then give u a surprise call and go on as if nothing really happened. It has worked for me several times.

It is possible if both parties are only looking for friendship. However, if one of the two is looking for more, it just won't work.
