I am not sure but I get a feeling that the "parents" situation, culture or religion? Because you acted very mature in your response keeping it as a friendship until he worked it out. If that is the case, and he used it (his parents) as you suspect the closure would be, what a rat... Not man enough. In my opinion.

You were 13, I don't know if he was older or the same age as you but let me tell you, at 21 a whole new life begins there as well. We do indeed grow 13-21. We change as well from 21-25 again at 30 and so on. You have no idea what laughter, love is out there for you that's more real than any love you've ever felt. 7 years is a long time a very long time and I understand what you are going through, as I've been there at your age.

Would I call him? Yes, I would ask for the truth, tell him that you deserve the truth after spending 7 years and you are concerned what the truth is, rather you need it for closure so you can move on. Tell him to be a man, instead of a rat which he was by breaking up the way he did with you and tell you the truth.

As others have stated it won't heal you totally but if you get the truth be it parents or another girl, he's a rat and you know you deserve better treatment, hopefully you will then see that and all of a sudden I am betting you will see other faults, flaws things that you weren't that happy with either, as you hide now behind the feeling of love.

Always be yourself no matter what, you own yourself no one owns you but tell them you will be "alright" ..............

People handle things differently in life but please don't waste away your days on a "rat" yes, that is my thoughts, only a rat does that a man stands tall.
