People who are only children are considered as well. Using me and my GF as an example, we are both the last born (youngest among our siblings). I am the youngest of only brothers and she is the youngest of only brothers. We are said to be able to have a very exciting and fune time together; we enjoy "playing and being kids together," says one site. However, our pairing is also said to be the most chatoic of all the pairings. We are supposed to be unorganized, unable to hold ourselves accountable, and expect the other to take the lead....What are your guys thoughts/feelings on this? What is the sibling order of you and your spouse?
As I recall from an intro to psychology course I took this is all stems from the work of Alfred Adler, an Austrian Psychiatrist.

He thought that birth order had an affect on personality. For instance if you are the oldest child you are your Mother's first.

As such she was more likely to have approached your child rearing with more organization and scheduling.

Which is supposed to mean oldest/first born children tend to be more organized and responsible.

Or so the thinking goes....but there doesn't seem to be a lot of evidence to support this given all the variability.

For instance while my older brother (first born) is highly organized and responsible, I bet we can all point to an eldest child who isn't.
