The Garbage Truck

One day I hopped in a taxi and we took off for the airport. We were driving in the right lane when suddenly a yellow car jumped out of a parking space right in front of us. My taxi driver slammed on his breaks, skidded, and missed the other car by just inches! The driver of the other car whipped his head around and started yelling at us. My taxi driver just smiled and waved at the guy. And I mean, he was really friendly.

So I asked, 'Why did you just do that? This guy almost ruined your car and sent us to the hospital!' This is when my taxi driver taught me what I now call, 'The Law of the Garbage Truck.'

He explained that many people are like garbage trucks. They run around full of garbage, full of frustration, full of anger, and full of disappointment. As their garbage piles up, they need a place to dump it and sometimes they'll dump it on you . Don't take it personally. Just smile, wave, wish them well, and move on.
Don't take their garbage and spread it to other people at work, at home, or on the streets.

The bottom line is that successful people do not let garbage trucks take over their day. Life's too short to wake up in the morning with regrets, so..... 'Love the people who treat you right. Pray for the ones who don't.'

Couldn't agree more with that phylosophy, when you said that he smiled and you asked why i got the picture straight away.

One of the hardest things to do in life it so smile when you really want to say you.....

As a believer of what comes around, goes around as well, it's just not worth the wasted energy, or to lower yourself either to someone elses standard and easier if you are calm, whilst their venting as you remain logical and it also often calms the other person down in the end, like the guy in the yellow car, as surely he would be shocked at such a response either there and then, or a short time later when he can stop and think about it.

Thank you CW. I get some of these things I post here thru my work email. Some I delete and go on, some I keep, the ones that touch me in a certain way. Some make more sense than others, especially with what I have been going thru. Still struggle, but I think I'm finally starting to see the light alittle more everyday.

So if I can share these things here and they touch another person it makes me smile. And smiling is helping me get thru my pain and my sorrow. To my sister is back in my life and is helping me lots as I'm helping her with her "demons" too.

Life is getting better, slowly but getting there.

Very true, it's like everything in life, if you can reach one person than it was all worth while, or if you learn one thing, then again, it was well worth while.... But it's when you give un-conditionally that your smile feels like a million dollars, as you know that you have reached someone with what you gave.

Two souls joined as one, battling for each other is a powerful thing, that when i read, put a smile on my face...
