A good way to bare it...

What's the best way to get through watching a whole football match with your S/A when you absolutely hate it but watch it because he likes it?

The past couple of times I've done it have been horrific...to the point I want to chew my own eyeballs because I cant watch anymore!!!

I make him watch top model so I can at least suffer some football but good god....

Any pointers on how to make it slightly better?

If you cut a long gash across your leg, you can periodically rub salt and lemon juice into the wound, which will distract you from how appalling that sport and its followers actually is. If its just you and him then ravage yourself with a sex toy so you don't have to pay attention?

America's top model is actually quite funny, fooballl makes me want to put my eyes through a cheese-grater.

Just - don't. You don't need to love everything he loves. You don't need to share everything with each other. The more you share, the sooner your relationship will end...

Maybe if you go on about how hot all the footballers are he'll be less happy about you watching it?

    Dunno.

But having to watch football isn't worth a relationship.

I thought you were talking about American football for a second ... Anon, I didn't know you hated "soccer" so much!
Let him have soccer/football days as guys' days out or something; you shouldn't have to suffer through it. Tell him to tape or DVR it if he wants you to be over while it's on! Compromise, compromise, compromise.
Top Model doesn't compare with sports events ... ballet or theatre are about the only things that do. For taking me to one live ballet, I attended my boyfriend's rugby game. Two hours in the freezing cold to watch him play for 20 minutes ... and the only reason it really added up were:
      1. It was a one-time thing and
      2. HE was actually playing.
I am a semi-sports fan, and can actually watch (American) football sometimes, but I just can't sit through a whole game/match and not do anything else. Use Anon's lemon and salt and go make a margarita ... I promise you it's better

Actually, little, I think that's pretty skank that the only reason you'd see HIM play was since he took you to the ballet... If HE's actually playing, you should just shut up and support him. And pretend that seing him being all manly turns you on.

Oh, Anon, you know I would have gone to see him, ballet or no ballet.
(Actually, asking him to take me to the ballet was a joke. I was fully prepared to go on my own.)
For all I understand of rugby, his face was in some other guy's butt for twenty minutes. Woo-hoo?

Yeah rugbies gay. Just be glad you don't get to see all the buggery that goes on off pitch.

Coach: "I've hidden a coin in one of your arses, first one to find it with their penis gets the next game off!"

Coach: "there's no soap but bodily fluids clean better!"

First... Drink. And drink often. I think strong doses of Gin and Tonic are best. Then act like your interested and yell right into his ear at as high a pitch as you can when someone scores. Ask lots of questions all the time and he will soon find a way to watch at the local bar or with "the guys" Asking over and over "Which team is on our side?" and how many points do we get for a goal are good.

why not just tell him? sometimes people need things to do on their own? My XYL loves to watch Monk and I'm sick of it. I'm a Doctor Who addict and she can't stand it.
