UGH.... what is it with my DH? He always want's to cut corners on everything and it almost always bites him in the but and makes more work in the long run!!!

This may sound silly but we just had an argument about a clothesline... yup you got it!

We have talked for 4 years about putting one up and he keeps blaming it not getting done on me. He want's to do it totally cheesy. He is out of work right now so I am trying to save money anyway I can. We even have the nice metal posts (a former homeowner must have had them then at some point dug them up. They have a bunch of concrete at the bottom) So I brought this up again today that when it gets warmer we need to set up the line... He says "heck we have the post and line, I'll just rest the post against a tree! what??? Yeah that is STURDY! UGH.........

Okay, how about you do this yourself one day and just get out of the way? He might like the result and he won't have to do the work. You can even ask for a friend to help.

I have been known to do that but It has also caused issues. On this project I can not because the posts are metal and with the concrete on them I can not move them. My mommy friends all have their own issues. I won't ask for help on this one.

I'm not a perfectionist but I want things done correctly so they don;t have to be redone and I want things to look half decent. He has skills but tries to make things "easy" well usually easy means more work to fix it down the road.

I agree, just do it yourself. Dig the holes and have a friend come over to help put them in. Fix some iced-tea and snacks and make an afternoon out of it. Seriously, don't let him lean the dang thing against a tree, that's just lame. If he gets mad about it, just remind him that you've been wanting to do it for years and you finally were just over it.

Personally, let him do it his way. When it goes to pot, laugh, and tell him that "There's never enough time to do it right, but always enough time to do it over"

thanks for letting me vent... He really is a good DH I just get frustrated. I'm certainly not perfect either.

Putting aside your DH. To do the job right, you will need to break that old concrete off the posts. Then you should be able to handle them. Get 3 bags of post hole cement. Your holes should be 2 feet deep and10 to 12 inches across. There is a special tool called a post hole digger that you can use or a special shovel. You can often pick these up at garage sales for a couple dollars. Follow the directions on the bag to mix the concrete in the hole, then place your poles and use some 2 x 4s or cinder blocks to hold them in place until the mud has set. You should have adjustable eye bolts to run your rope or wire through. If you explain what you are using them for the hardware should be able to fix you up.
