Depends on how long you were with the person prior to the engagement. Honestly, I think I would prefer the engagement just to plan the wedding and not to be rushed into it. I am not too hip on the huge wedding but I would want to set the perfect date (depending on time of year etc...) and just make things nice without feeling stressed out and rushed. It all really boils down to personal preference and what the bride and groom agree to do.

I've been engaged for a year now and I don't mind staying so just to avoid the wedding ceremony (and I love my golden band, which is identical to a wedding ring). I'm afraid it's my fiance the one who dreams of the wedding day instead of me. He's dreamt of having it at a certain church with all his family and friends there... but I wish it would be something even smaller than that. I don't want anything fancy, neither does my family. And that's a little bit of a problem...Comment

Depends what your heart says and how you define each category. For me, engagement is a period where you and your fiance have promised to marry each other and that is going to be your planning period for the wedding day. It is like transition, no rings involved, just a commitment from you both. But of course, in the wedding, rings and all the stuff that you want in are all there.Comment
