    Not being a smartaleck about it, but from everything I've read to this point sort of tells me that she listens but that's about it. Yeah, he was neat at home, he was always so neat, etc. maybe because she had just gotten so used to doing it for him it was second nature to her.

      Ah an unhelpful yet kind mother-in-law is better than the kinds I more often hear about! It's one less relationship to worry about imo.

      You know stressed a good friend of mine complains of a similar problem. But even while she complains about it, nothing ever changes, and she still stays with the guy. Hypothetically if nothing about this EVER changed, would you stay with him another 20, 30, 40 years?
