    How did you meet him?

There was another thread about WoW addictions and I didn't really want to hijack it with my happy story of Warcraft.

I met my fiance on WoW about six years ago. We were like best friends and traded phone numbers and talked every night and eventually had phone sex and all that good stuff. He had a girlfriend and I had a boyfriend and we kinda just chilled, never really discussed meeting or having a relationship.

And then one day when we were both single again it kinda just...happened. And then I found myself on a plane to Washington.

Four months later I told my family a week before my second plane trip out there that I'd actually only bought a 1 way ticket. Aren't I bad?

It's been four years since then and we're still going strong.

So...Any funny, interesting, inspirational, or just plain cute ways that you met and fell in love?

We met on E-harmony, had our first date about 3 weeks after we were "matched", he proposed 3 weeks after that and we married a couple of months after that (first date to wedding ceremony = less than 4 months). Celebrating our 4th in a couple of weeks.

My husband and I met on facebook...kinda. He is my youngest brother's best friend and I had never met him before. He decided to add me on facebook one day b/c he said I was so cute. So he added me and I went through his pictures and saw a picture of Maria Brink (lead singer of a band called in this moment) I commented on it talking about how hot she was lol. So we started talking since we thought the same woman was hot, I text my brother and told him to give Bryson (husband) my cell number to text me, so Cody (brother) asked Bryson if he liked me and Bryson said Yea whats her number so I can get to know her better, so he thinks that he made the first move, but I really did. We text for 2 days and then met at his house, had sex that night, was engaged a month and a half later and now we are getting married in October. I have never been happier. Thank god for facebook lol.

Okcupid. I broke up with my psychotic ex after living with him for 2 years, moved in to a house, and avoided all human contact for about a year. Then I started online dating. My intent was to date a variety of people not seriously for awhile. After about a year of it though I ended up with a very clingy guy who wouldn't take the hint. He decided to start calling me his gf even after he repeatedly asked me to be and I said no. He showed up at my house after I told him not to. Things like that. I ended up complaining to my now husband online several times weekly about my "boyfriend" while he was also having problems with his girlfriend. Eventually she broke up with him, he started helping me with my computer programming homework and hanging out, and he solved my self proclaimed bf problem. 6 months later he was living with me and we got married.

Technically 4th grade. In the same class for grades 4,5 and 6. Separate schools for 7-9, back in same high school. Then parted to college, met him again a year into my degree he asked me out to catch up on things. Later ended up dating him and now we have been going out for over 3 years.

Personally, online dating services don’t hold any appeal for me. It seems a bit too practical and clinical. I want romance to happen naturally and without my having to push it. Also, the idea of intentionally going to places specifically to meet other singles seems unromantic to me. I want to feel that heaven brought us both together and not that I went looking for my future spouse. A lot of people nowadays have an action-oriented mentality where to attain anything requires going out and getting it. I see things differently.

Its true that life requires some effort but some things such as love and a spouse are granted by the Lord when he deems it to be the right time. In my view its more about being patient than it is about doing anything to make it happen. In the meantime, while waiting, try to live correctly and to be a good person. That’s my philosophy and I’m comfortable with it.

Trying to force a desirable outcome (in most all situations) usually backfires somehow - either now or later. Its best to let things happen when they’re meant to happen.

This is not a criticism of anyone using online dating services. I’ve added my perspective in the interest of contributing to the forum by broadening the range of perspectives within. I read ‘We met on E-harmony’ and that just got me thinking how I felt about this.

If your job has no coworkers, you have minimal friends to introduce you to other people, do not believe in god so don't go to church, you hate bars and clubs and other hang out spots... where is this person magically going to come from? I know of people who have been waiting into their 40s as virgins never been on a date because they have lives that don't result in a lot of human contact. If you aren't out there you can't meet the person intended for you. So for those of us who have limited human contact and suck at starting conversations with random strangers there is online dating.

I, too, work at a job where I have no coworkers. I live way out in the country and the nearest neighbor is a cow. (literally) I tried all the conventional means and was not lucky. I met my now husband on Plenty of Fish.com. We dated for two years and at the end of this month we will have been married for two. He is the man of my dreams. I would have never met him if it hadn't been for online dating. Our paths would have never crossed. I think god is mysterious in the ways that he works and that if my relationship would have not been ment to be it would not have worked out the way it has. I am just so glad to have finally met that wonderful man. Not saying that I didn't date alot of online duds. But that happens in other dating senerios as well. It is all what you make it.

My best friend asked me if I wanted to go on a blind date with one of her boyfriend's friends, and not trying to hook up just trying to have a good time, I agreed. Well he spent his whole paycheck on me and spilt his pop on him at the movies. 4 years later, we are happily engaged and ready to spend the rest of our lives together.
