A small word of advice for newly engaged women.

I don't want this to come across the wrong way but I've been having this conversation with friends lately about women who have recently become engaged and we all seem to agree on some level.

Please, for the love of god, if you've just gotten engaged....please, for the sanity of the people around you.....do not talk about it 24/7!! It's bloody annoying! Yes, we are all happy for you but there is a point where a person needs to be self aware enough to realize when they have been talking about themselves for over 5 hours!

    That is all, carry on.

    Understood & agree!

I think this is true in other areas of life- if people are excited about something- it dominates their conversation...ie, pregnancy, birth of child/ grandshild, new BF/ husband or wedding arrangements, etc.

At first your reaction is, "Yeah, I'm happy for you!" but after a while it becomes, "Yeah, I get it. Let's move on..."

I think we've all been guilty of this in one way or another. It requires a sense of awareness that not everyone will be excited about your new --(whatever)-- as you are; and that their are other lives continuing around you regardless of your earth-shattering news.

i did talk about my wedding all the time, but not to an extreme, at least i hope so! in hindsight, i think that i should've been more aware of everything else going on around me instead of being so self absorbed. but i now listen to other women who are about to get married, and think...if you only knew how not everything is a big deal as it seems. there were so many things i stressed about and in the end, it didn't even matter cause i had the best day ever!

The year I got married, twelve girls in my company were engaged also... we averaged either one a month or two a month... can you imagine what it was like for those poor people who worked with us who were married and unmarried? I'm surprised noone committed suicide, or went postal on us! (All due respect to postal workers )

I, myself, am engaged but I don't ever talk about it 24/7. I mentioned it to one of my co-workers and all of a sudden the entire place knows about it!! It's fine by me but I dropped it after that. The only thing that they keep bothering me about is "when" and I just tell them in five months. But I only mentioned once or twice and that's it, I don't go around blabbing about it.

My parents did that when they found out that my sister was pregnant. My father drove twenty minutes to see me at my job only to say this to me, "Your sister's pregnant." He hadn't seen me in over four months before he stopped in so I know the feeling of being tired of the same repetitive news. I mean, everyone can get pregnant and everyone can get married so why is it always the women that have to talk about it 24/7? I'm a woman, I'm 21 but even I know that it gets on people's nerves that's why I don't talk about it because many of my co-workers are divorced and it's not right to blab about something that is wonderful when they went through something like that. I do it mainly out of respect.

            Oooops, sorry for rambling.
