These days everybody records virtually everything, no matter how mundane or crazy. In this day and age of tech, I've always wondered how many people have recorded themselves having sex or performing sex acts. We all know about celebs whose sex tapes have gone on to be famous/infamous but what about the every day folks? Do you or have you recorded yourself? If so, how did you come to the decision to do it? Do you ever worry about someone seeing it or getting access to the footage? How do you keep your files safe?

I'm so curious to hear what other people's experiences are!

It doesn't surprise me that celebrities record themselves having sex. Most seem to really like their image. My personal experience is that the women I have been around don't even want nude stills taken of them. I once did take a few close up stills or a short video of my wife and I having sex but she did not like it so I deleted it/them. A happy wife is a happy life. No files so no safety issues. For others, I wonder how the grand kids will react when they see grandma and grandpa going at it.

I don't think I've ever done that or had a strong urge to do so. Pictures, yes, there's tons of those, but no sex tapes.
I have had a different experience than jns with women wanting nude photos taken of them. I certainly don't mind it, as long as it's for someone I trust.

I have asked a couple men, including my current man, at what point in a relationship he's felt comfortable to ask for some "stimulating" photos of a woman. Every single one has said that they never had to ask, women just send suggestive or nude pics on their own. In hindsight, I think that's true of myself also. I've sent them only to 2 men that I've been involved with, and I'm certain they didn't ask. I initiated that as a sort of, unexpected, naughty thing that they wouldn't think I'd ever do

Anyway, I'm off topic... I've known of some couples that made sex tapes, all the way back to when it was VHS! lol I think some people just wonder what they look like, as if we somehow think we all look like porn stars in bed, or wherever we decide to set the scene. I think it could be fun, if a couple had complete trust, and it was done as a little extra activity to spice things up. I probably never would, but I'd be open to it.

In light of Kitty's post, I suppose I should add something. My wife is from Thailand. Many Asian cultures are quite traditional and were even more so when we got married decades ago. A different point of view than the typical USA one. I wonder how this topic is considered in other countries and cultures.

You can never go wrong with the "happy wife, happy life" adage, haha. :-)

But it was cool that you both at least tried it. I can see how it can be uncomfortable to actually see yourself. I've only done it with 3 people I dated (and obviously trusted). The first time I did it with a long-term boyfriend, it was so long ago, it's on one of those mini DV tapes that goes in a camcorder so I doubt you could even find anything to play it on! But he still has it but is married and his wife hates me so I doubt that video would ever get leaked. She probably destroyed it once she knew it existed (I have no clue either way).

With my other ex who was the second person, I didn't like watching it afterwards...it was mostly for him. However, once we broke up I did ask him to delete all the videos he had, which he did in front of me so that was taken care of.

The last guy I did that with I am still on good terms with but I do not feel comfortable with him having the footage on his phone...not because he would ever exploit it but because on a phone it's way too easy to be discovered by accident or if his phone ever got stolen or hacked into. Actually, the next time I see him, I'm going to ask that he delete any of the ones that actually shows my face or is otherwise recognizable. Certain closeups where it's just body parts are not a big deal to me since you can't tell who it belongs to.

Moving forward, I don't think I would do it anymore, even with someone I trusted. I've been lucky so far and honestly, the fantasy of it is gone for me so I'm over it. Haha.

I really like how you are comfortable enough with yourself to share provocative photos. Video is definitely another level and it isn't for everyone. Personally, it's always hotter for a woman to send racy photos of herself to a guy than the other way around. I mean, showing off your body is one thing for a man but I HATE d!ck picks! Ugh, hahahahaha. I respect and adore a guy's manhood but they are not the most photogenic things. Thankfully, I don't tend to get those (maybe 1 or 2?) but even the few times it's happened, it was scarring and totally took any attraction out of the equation for me.

I have thought that, if my man sent me a whole body nude, I'd be ok with that. But these guys that send close ups of their erect penis only, is the biggest turn off. That was the end of the line for me too.

Long before I met my husband, I let a guy I was dating film our sexcapades. I didn't like watching myself though. I'm a fat chick with body image issues that were way worse when I was in my 20s.

When I found out he'd sold the video of us, I was surprised at how NOT horrified I was at the idea of being seen doing the deed. Obviously, I was angry that I didn't have a say in that, though I fully expected him to show friends. But emotionally, my gut reaction was amusement more than embarrassment. Luckily for me, this was at the beginning of the internet. AFAIK, it's not in distribution anywhere.

I never thought of myself as the sort of person who would want others to see something that intimate. But so long as the reaction was positive, I found that I had no issue with others seeing me during sexy times. Also, I made him give me half the money, which was the funnest $3,000 I've ever made.

You got so lucky all that happened before what is now the new normal with recording and the Internet. although like you said, the idea in general didn't seem to really bother/affect you. And ummm...$3,000? Yeah, I'd say that was a pretty nice end result, not too shabby at all!

I have not – at least not recordings. Somewhere out there, an ex likely still has photographs he took of my long-forgotten 20-something naked body.

I never planned on having a career in politics, anyway, so it really doesn’t bother to me know they might be in his possession still. But I remember, very clearly, having to pick them up from the drug store photo department because this was before the age of digital cameras and home printing — those were on FILM that had to be developed.

I’ve never had the urge to be on video, mostly because I generally run from cameras. A porn vid starring me would not likely be anything I’d ever watch, so why make one at all?

That happened at my daughters’ school a few years back — I used it as a lesson about what to NEVER do. One poor girl had her nudes air dropped in the lunchroom. It was understandably a nightmare.
