Birth Control and Yeast Infections
Hello!!! Is there anyone else out there who's taking the pills Aleese or Lessina and having yeast infections? If so, how long were you on these pills before you started to have these problems and did the doctor diagnose you with bacterial vaginosis or a regular yeast infection? What prescriptions were you prescribed to treat the infections, if any? -
I personally have never taken those pills, but have some information that might help you. There is a distinctive difference between Bacterial Vaginosis (BV) and a Yeast infection. They are completely different infections.
BV does not cause any itching or irritation and is usually only noticed by it's foul smell and slight greenish discharge. It is most commonly treated with prescription Metronidazole.
Yeast infections do not cause much change in discharge other then a possible thickening. Yeast infections cause moderate to severe itching, redness, and irritation. They are easilly treated with over-the-counter medication such as Vagisil or Monistat.
Some women will experience recurring infections if they are suffering from excessive stress or a ph imbalance. -

Yes I am on one now that caused a severe infection like an allergy. I am allergic to sulfa drugs and the same exact symptoms occurr when I take the Kavira birth control pill. I actually stopped taking it today after one week of mysery. I tried this pill once before and it did the same thing but I thought that I would try it one more time because of cost and had the same reaction as before. The only thing that works for me when it is this bad is a dbl dose of diaflucan. Taking one treatment, then the second dose 48 hrs later and quitting the cause of course.
Looks like a visit to the OB for me. Thanks for the update and I will avoid the two you mentioned.

Hello, I also was on Alise (sp) and developed BV. The doc. prescribed a pill that in a single dose is supposed to completely take care of the problem, I don't remember the name, but I do know that it was an anti-fungal drug. I am happy to say that it is all cleared up. Hopefully for good too. The doc. gave me two refills as well so I will be safe from any future breakouts. I am no longer on the Pill, I couldn't bear the vicious side effects. Mood swings, bursts of anger and crying for no reason, as well as breakthrough bleeding in the middle of the month. Too much of a hassle for me. My husband and I now use the Bead method. Works just great.
Hope that helps.Comment
