How old are you? Are you in Conn, Michigan or Ireland. They each have a Waterford. Age on consent in Conn is 15, Mich 16, Ireland looks like currently 17. In many places there is a county facility where you can get birth control but it would be best if you could talk with your mom.
It's good to plan ahead and be prepared. Too many young women get pregnant because they fail to do so and get caught up in the moment.

Are you in high school? I wonder if you could go talk to the school nurse if so to see what your options might be. I remember there being controversy when I was in high school about the fact that students could get condoms from the school nurse, so I'm sure that would be a good, and hopefully confidential, source of information.

I don't know if you're still wondering, but birth control can be used to regulate menstruation. You can just tell your mom that it's irregular for you and it bothers you, and you heard that birth control helps. She might buy it?

Well , talking to your parents can make things easier , if they are open minded to it. As perviously said , many places allow girls of a certain age to go to a clinic and get birthcontrol without parental consent. Birthcontrol does have lots of other beniefits , such as regulating your cycle , it can help with acne and cramps . However , I recommend that you take the time to do some research on the types of birthcontrol out there , how they work , etc , make sure you understand exactly what sex is , how it all works , and what the risks are . Consider making a gyno appointment as well. In my expierance , showing that you are responsible ,and taking the time to inform yourself and do this the mature way helps parents take you more seriously. Also , if you decide to talk to your mom , try to time it when she is in a good mood , and do so privately. Dont hedge corners. You are asking for her help to do something as an adult , so act like an adult. I am not sure what your mom is like , but generally speaking , her main concern is for you , so if she freaks out , try to wait it out and talk again. My mom's stance was that she knew sex would happen but it wasnt going to happen in her house . Personally , I disagree with that point of view in light of safe practices , but the point is , most parents know its going to happen , they just dont want to think about their little girl like that.
