Came off pill, had 3 periods, now I'm 7 weeks late!?

OK so I came off the pill last March. I came off it mid-pack so I kinda expected things might be out of sync for my first couple of periods maybe.

After stopping the pill I got a slightly shorter than usual period almost straight away.
Then my second period was 2 weeks late.
My third period arrived exactly on time.

All my periods were a little shorter than usual. But I expected everything to be pretty smooth and more regular from here. BUT my fourth period is now 7 weeks late! (my last period ended on the 26th May)

I havn't been using condoms very often but my boyfriend has been pulling out. I know this isn't a safe method. But I've done 2 pregnancy tests and both were negative.

Is this normal or has it happened to anyone else? My periods had always been very regular, even before i went on the pill. I hadn't been on the pill that long either - maybe 2 years? (I'm 22). Oh and the pill I used was ovranette.

I’ve gained a lot of weight since coming off the pill aswel (20lbs) but I don’t know if that was because I quit smoking around the same time as coming off the pill. My hormones are all over the place, I get emotional a lot and it doesn’t help that I’ve gained all this weight. I’ve tried for months counting calories/exercising 45 mins a day/5 days a week etc but I cant seem to lose weight and that makes me sad and I just end up eating more. And no, it wasn’t muscle I put on, because my clothes were getting tighter not looser.

Sorry this is soooo long, just hoped someone might have had a similar experience.. is it normal for my period to be so late?

If you got 2 negative tests, you probably aren't pregnant. If you don't want to see a doctor, drink plenty of water and continue taking a pregnancy test every 1-2 weeks until either you get a positive or get your period. Also, use condoms.

Lots of things can affect your cycle, so try to relax and wait. Or... Make a doctor's appointment.

I am in almost the exact same situation. I stopped taking birth control pills around the same time as you, had a few normal periods and am now about 7 weeks late! I get mild cramping sometimes, but a period never comes. I've taken two pregnancy tests, and both came up negative. My boyfriend and I always use condoms, however, so I just don't see how I could be pregnant anyhow. I am thinking that the birth control may take a few months to get out of your system (hence the "fake" periods after the pill). I have read that it can take 6 months - 1 year to regulate your period after birth control.

Just to update.. did another preg test and as expected it was negative. Still no period. I dont have cramps or anything though.. but I never have.

I think it may be some kinda hormonal imbalance from going off the pill that caused my weight gain. I went to see my doc at my family planning clinic 2 weeks ago and she was very unhelpful. I decided to go back on the pill so picked up a pack.. I'm hoping it will get my hormones back to where they used to be. Thats just my thinking though... the doc didnt really give me any helpful feedback but said she'd do a thyroid test in a few weeks if my weight didnt improve.

5 days ago i went back on the pill to try to induce a period. I've read of people doing that.. dont know if it'll even work but I'm at my wits end.

After I came off the pill I had two normal periods and then nothing for six months. My doctor told me it wasn't abnormal.

It took a year for everything to be normal again when I stopped yasmin. I didn't get my period for 4months at one point.

                  Update

Hey guys, so it turns out I've got hypothyroidism - an underactive thyroid. And thats actually why my periods stopped and I gained weight. Just a weird coincidence that I had came off the pill a couple of months beforehand. I've also gone back on the pill and will finish my first pack tomorrow. So hopefully I'll get a period then. Its been 3 months since I've had one!
                  Thanks all
