The pregnancy test says it is over 99% percent accurate from the first day of your missed expected period. Okay so my question is if you are on the pill is your expected period day going to be accurate since on the pill you don't have a "real" period? My "period" is usually on the third or fourth placebo pill day so I am assuming my expected period to be those days. It is now a couple of days after that and still no period and I am back on the active pills so obviously the "period" is not going to come now. I took the pg test two days after my usual "expected" period days which came out negative. I am just wondering if I should bother taking a second one, or assume this is correct and go on.

I would assume it is correct and go on. Mine was always the same, 4th or 5th day of placebo, so that is when I expected my period to start on a monthly basis.

I would take the second one just to be on the safe side, especially if missing periods while on the pill is abnormal for you and you haven't made any major changes to your lifestyle (eating way less than normal, large increases in exercise, sleep changes, etc). You are correct in the timing of the test is respect to your expected "period" (withdrawal bleed). The way these tests work are it detects the levels of a certain hormone that spikes when you become pregnant, and continue to rise the further into pregnancy you get. It's not unheard of, although unlikely, that the first test comes out negative and subsequent ones will be positive. The general rule is if the first test comes out positive, you're pregnant, but if the first test comes out negative, you might be pregnant. Keep an eye on any early signs of pregnancy as well. It all depends on the person, and someone has to be that 1%...the only way to know 100% for sure if you are pregnant or not is to see your MD and have them do a pregnancy test there.
