    The Coil + Bleeding

I had the non hormone coil fitted on the 9th October of this year - so two weeks ago and have noticed that the day after I have sex I start bleeding for a couple of days and sometimes I get horrible cramps.

I know that things wouldn't have settled down yet but should I be bleeding after having sex and this much?

Im due for a check up in 4 weeks - should I wait this long before going to check that its in the correct place and everything is alright?

    Thanks

I think your cramps and bleeding are pretty normal at this point since they say it takes an IUD months to settle in. I got an IUD myself right around that same time and have had mild cramps every now and then.

Having said that, 4 weeks is a long time... If you're really concerned about it, I'd go in earlier.

Are you talking about the essure? If so you aren't supposed to have sex until your follow-up. You are most likely re-tearing your cervix or something else and need to give it time to heal. You want to wait at least three weeks before having sex.

She's talking about the copper IUD, a small device inserted into the uterus. Different from essure.

cramps are normal and will probably last a little while, getting worse around your period.
i find that i start cramping (not badly) just over a week before my period starts and then lasting for about two days into it.

i've never had blood before after having sex.
even though i had sex almost straight after having it put in (using other protection obviously)

          okay
how much blood is it? and what colour?
sorry, that sounds really gross but if its a light bright red colour then its likely that something is tearing slightly
if its darker then that means its more internal and could potentially be something serious.

i would get checked out sooner than four weeks just in case
because sometimes it can come loose from its moorings and cause all sorts of horrible problems (unlikely) or they might have just not inserted it quite right and they can correct that.

          keep us posted okay? x
'so why care for these petty obsessions? your designer heart still beats with common blood. and what if you could have genetic perfection? would you change who you are if you could?'
