loestrin questions
two months ago i started loestrin 24fe. for the first month i was abstinent due to the fact that i was taking an antibiotic. they told me that it was safe to start having sex without a backup method after that first cycle with the antibiotics. I am in the middle of my second pack right now and have been taking my pills exactly on time every day. i had two questions. one is now i am having a light brown discharge that is like the start of my period when i go to the bathroom now for two days this has been going on. is this normal? and i hate to ask but could this be an "im pregnant thing"? also, after my days on placebos do i have to wait for seven days after im back on the white pills to have sex even though they start right after the brown pills? or is it ok to start having sex again as soon as i start back on the white pills? this is my first experience with birth control and this is makin me just a little nervous (my fiancee too!!!) Thanks in advance guys (girls i guess

First off, take a deep breath....
I'd say that if you've been taking the pill every day, not taking antibiotics and having unprotected sex, then you're not likely to be pregnant. I just got off Loestrin 24FE. One of the common side effects with it was no period.....some months there'd be no period whatsoever.....other months there'd be spotting (brown discharge) but no period, other months, I'd have a one day heavy period. Women on Loestrin 24FE have spent a lot of money on pregnancy tests, just being sure when their period is absent. Also, I experienced cramping even on the months I'd have no period. I'd have cramping and PMS no differently than if I were having one.
Ultimately, not a bad pill (in my opinion) but it killed my sex drive so I switched.
My suggestion, go to the dollar store, get a cheap preggo test, take it...and then have some peace of mind. Daylight Savings shouldn't make a different. A couple hours difference in pill taking time shouldn't make a difference, though for side effect reasons it's best to take it at the same (or close to) time every day.Comment

i am taking this birth control as well. i also have missed periods and have had spotting. i thinks its pretty normal for any pill. it is safe to have sex durring the fourth week as long as you dont miss any pills. make sure you read the drug facts carefully. the only complant i have about this pill is that i have broken out with acne all over my forhead and chin. when i looked at the side affects listed on the drug facts it said "acne may clear up or get worse" ive never had pimples like this. not even in highschoolLast edited by kim1985; 11-20-2009, 09:40 PM.Comment

I know I'm late in answering this but just found the site and hope this will still help you!
I just went on Loestrin 24 3 months ago and for the first 2 months I had pretty heavy random spotting for 2 weeks each month. The first month I didn't get a normal period, just that spotting, the 2nd month I got it for 3 days. I'm in my third month now so I'm hoping my system will finally have sorted itself out! Bottom line: I think you're fine and your body is just adjusting. If after 3 months you still have no discernable pattern established, you might want to talk to your doc about it. I talked to my gyno about the randomness of my past 2 cycles and she said she won't be concerned til I've been on it 3 months. Hope that helps!Comment
