Starting the pill before first day of period?

3 months ago I went to the Doctor to get the Pill. The doctor told me to start taking the pill on the first day of my next period. However, my periods are really irregular and so I have currently been waiting before taking the pill.
I am wanting to know whether it would be safe to start taking the pill before my period? Is there any danger in doing this?

    Please help me!

I dont actually know the answer to this but wait for a few more responses however, you might want to call your doctor to ask them this as he/she will be able to help you

You should take the pill on the "last day of your period" not the first, if you take it on the first, you stop your period?

One reason why the pill is recommended is to regulate your period

The problem with your thoughts are based on your Doctor's comment I am sure, he just mean't the other way round, or she.

So when you next get them, wait (7) days and then take your pill... then you will have 21 days of taking the pill and then don't take them and you will have your period, then (7 days) later, take the next course, if you have a pack that have 21 pills and 7 sugar tablets, (usually red or blue) then you will know which ones to start with..

For me it's always a Saturday

Also, do me a favour, it's so hard to get our mind arounds things sometimes, when new, so put your pills, somewhere you frequent every morning, your toothbrush for-instance

I thought it was the first...where you start at the beginning of the 'sugar pills' is it maybe possible that you can start at the beginning and the end??

My doctor did tell me the first day of my period and it also stated this in the instructions with the pills I've been given.
Are you saying therefore that you think it would be safe for me to start taking them tomorrow morning, even if I havent had a period or are not on my period currently?

I was questioning cause here in Australia, we take the pill on the last day of our period, so that we "don't have one" which makes sense...

            What pill are you on?

Are there sugar pills? Did, he explain that part to you? And if so, where do they sit in the packet at the end?

If the pill packet says at the beginning for some reason a different pill than I am certainly used to here, then do as it says, the day you have any slight blood occur as a period, take one..

You say "irregular" so that means, you spot at least, do it then sweet, if that is what both the Doctor and the package states.

Spotting is light blood, a mixture of you and blood, so take it then.....

Sorry if I confused you, we work the other way down under with when to start Obviously....

Lol yes indeed, when i moved here took ages to get used to! but i think its possible to take the pill anytime as long as you consult your doctor as there are certain factors you may have to consider such as....which pills to take when.

That's strange, cause your an Australian.

I take Trifeme, which is Triphasil.. cheaper brand.

I just started, so I will take it till the third Friday, then the sugar pill arrive, so I don't take them.. 2 days not taking them it commences, on the Sat, I start all over again with normal hormone pills.

So maybe it's the brand....????? I wrote my thoughts, above....
