    birth control help?

I have been taking LoSeasonique (a low-dose birth control medication) for a little over 7 months.
I am supposed to have a light period once every three months while on the pill.

During the second month, I started to experience some breast tenderness and breakthrough bleeding. This lasted about a month, and I had my period at the correct time at the end of the third month.
I had an appointment with a gyn soon after, and she explained that it was normal, and I should expect less breakthrough bleeding during the next cycle and even less, if not any, after that.
The next cycle was much the same as the first with about a month of bleeding before my scheduled period.
I'm currently in the second month of the third cycle since beginning this medication, and the breakthrough bleeding hasn't stopped since it began almost three months ago.
I have not skipped a pill, but I haven't been taking them at the exact same time everyday (maybe a few hours apart sometimes). I'm not sure if this would affect me, though.

I'm also taking 88mcg Levothyroxine. My doctor said in the beginning that it shouldn't conflict with the birth control. I don't have another appointment for 6 months.

Is the bleeding normal? If not, what should I do?

Hello there welcome to the forum

Breakthrough bleeding is normal on the pill, i also know its more common with lower dose pills. If it doesnt go away by the next time you go to the gyn im sure she will prescribe you another type of pill, if not i think maybe you should recommend it.

Is there any particular reason why you chose a lower dose pill?

Also try taking the pill at the same time everyday and see if that makes a difference, it might it might not but its worth a try!

The gyn recommended a lower dose pill. I guess it was because I was wanting it mainly to control my heavy periods. She said it wouldn't mess with my hormones as much as the regular pill would.

It didn't really bother me at first because the side-effects are supposed to decrease over time. They seem to have only gotten worse, though.

My advice is to stay with it for maybe another month or two, try take the pill at the same time every day.

If it is getting worse or not getting better at all maybe try go to the gyn earlier and ask for another pill or a slight higher dose pill.

Okay. I'd like to wait until after my next period to see if it stops like a reboot or something, but I worry if I'll lose a lot of blood. After all, I've been bleeding for almost three months now.

If theres a lot of blood not just a few drops call your gyn and mention your concern and she'll be able to tell you more about that.

Please do let us know how you go.
