Sometimes you can approach local gyn. offices and ask them if they have samples. The pharm. companies are always giving them to the doctors for free. They may or may not give it to you but I'd say PP is a better route if there is one near you. Just make sure to read up about any birth control that they make available to you as each ones carries different risks. -
I'm not a 100% sure but,
I just went to a doctor appointment and was prescribed Birth Control to try and regulate my period. She told me that I could buy birth control over the counter at like Wal-mart or something. I'm not a hundred percent sure, I could be wrong, but it's worth a try i suppose.

Surviving on samples is not worth it. I've done that when I didn't have insurance. Really not worth it. Sometimes they don't get a delivery of something, sometimes it gets given out to other people, sometimes the office staff just get annoyed with you showing up to ask all the time, and eventually they tend to stop giving you anything without a script for legal reasons. In the US hormonal birth control like pills are not available over the counter. There are only barrier or chemical methods and you can buy some hormone supplements for women having problems but it will not work as birth control.Comment

Wal-Mart Pharmacy does offer a few birth control pills for $9 a month. Tri-Sprintec and Sprintec (which I believe are the generic forms of Ortho Tri-Cyclen and Ortho-Cyclen) are the ones offered. You can go to Wal-Mart's website and check the list in the pharmacy section or call your local Wal-Mart pharmacy and ask.
Also, I know at some county health units, they will give you an exam and usually a 6 month-1 year supply of pills for low cost or sometimes free. It could depend on where you live, though, not every state is the same.Comment

Just to add to what everyone else has said, I got a years worth of birth control at the local health department/planned parenthood office for $6. As well as a free papsmear. It's something to look into. It is based on your income because my friend, who went with me, had no job and got the same thing for free.sigpic☮“I am convinced that the women of the world, united without any regard for national or racial dimensions, can become a most powerful force for international peace and brotherhood.â€☮Comment
