Just needed a little feedback from you all.
A little back ground, I had the mirena coil inserted in April 2009, after 3 months of nasty periods I thought it was starting to work as my periods stopped completely. However, in October I started having really bad cramps and very heavy bleeding, when I went to the Dr they said I was miscarrying. The coil had slipped so far down that it was not offering protection any more so was removed. After going to the hospital for consultant appointment I asked to be sterilised which they refused as I am only 28. They convinced me into having another mirena coil inserted under GA using hysteroscopy. I had this done 25th Feb 2010.
Well now the problems begin, I had my first period after the insertion starting a week ago. I had four days of very heavy bleeding ( which I expected) anyway, I started to feel itching around my vagina opening. Thinking I had thrush I washed the area and went to apply cream to the find it was not thrush but the threads of the coil were sticking out of me. I went to the dr today. She was really very good, examined me and said that the coil must have slipped down but was not being expelled yet. I have to go back on Wednesday once the bleeding has subsided to see if they are going to just trim the threads or take it out.
Now I just don't know what to do, If I keep the coil, every period is it going to slip further until I get pregnant again? Do I ask for it to be taken out? I really don't know why they convinced to have another one.
Both my partner and I are sure we don't want more kids ( after 3 miscarriages, 1 still birth at 17 weeks pregnant and 2 healthy kids aged 1 and 2 we have our minds made up ) I have terrible periods, very heavy, painful, even effects my bowels I was told the coil was best for me.
I am lost as to what to do next, please please anyone offer some advice.
Thanks
Jenny
