    Pill without getting thrush?

I'm currently on the depo injection but I can't stand the irregular bleeding so on the 21st on May when it runs out I want to go back on the pill. Last time I Was on it tho it gave me thrush, the doc said something about going on a pill without the oestrogen? What pill is this does anyone know and are the side effects bad on it? Because I can't stand this!!! Also do you get extra discharge on the depo??

    Hi,

You can go on a birth control that doesn't have any estrogen in it, it's called the 'mini pill' and only has progesterone in it. It has a higher rate of pregnancy than the combined pill, but it may be better for you.

Also there are non hormonal methods that may work for you- IUDs, for example, if you are worried about the estrogen.

I have the same issue with the combined pill and thrush about the week before my cycle I always got it, I recommend looking into what Yazwoman recommended as well as talking to the gyno/ women's health doctor about getting the implanon which is the same active hormone as the mini pill. If you aren't good at remembering when to take the pill dont get the mini pill for the reasons stated by Yazwoman and get the Implanon.

I did find though that my issue seemed to settle down when I started taking Yaz, as my cycle within the three months trial period was lessening and it seems like if I went and got a new script for another three months it could of worked.

I was actually pretty good at remembering my pill so that shouldn't be a problem. I just hateeee having thrush so want to avoid it at all costs!

That's good then because the Mini pill needs to be taken at the same time without fail, I took mine around lunch during the day as my bed times use to vary, so take that into account too.

Good luck and look into following it up, it is a condition, by the name of Cyclinical thrush, so you arent going insane, most women (according to my gyno) seems to get great results off getting the implanon inserted. First month entering into my second and I've not had any symptoms yet of thrush, so hopefully by talking about it I don't get it.
