Birth Control, Sex, Breakthrough Bleeding. Please Help?

Hello Everyone, I am confused and don't know where to turn so I figure I'd try a women's health thread and get some advice and ideas. I don't want to talk to anyone about this to anyone so thank you anonymous users.

    Let's begin.

So i'm newly sexually active, lost my virginity to my long time boyfriend around a month ago. the first time we used a condom and i was not on birth control pills. i bled a bit, but nothing crazy, and it messed up my period cycle, i was about 5 days late. so i started taking loestrin24fe, then about 3 weeks after that we had unprotected sex a a few times but he 'pulled out'. and we used a condom once but something happened to it, it turned like inside out somehow so i'm a bit worried about that experience and the sex without a condom a few times, because even though he pulled out, there could still be a chance that some semen got in there. i know i've been on birth control pills for more then the recommended 7 days before we had sex but i'm a very paranoid person and just want to get some opinions.
I also forgot to mention that after we had sex, recently, i bled again, and have continued to bleed for 4 days! and it's a flow like a period. i heard this is called breakthrough bleeding and i shouldn't be concerned since i've only been on the pill for 4 weeks. but i still am.

i am just looking for some advise, should i see a doctor? could i be pregnant?
anything is helpful! thanks so much guys, look forward to hearing from you!

I would have my doubts that you would be pregnant. Your body is probably just adjusting to the pill, you may have odd cycles for a few months. Where are you at in your pill pack? It sounds like you should be around your inactive pills. Did you have your period when your were supposed to, on the inactive pills?

Hi! thanks for responding, no, i'm not at the inactive brown pills yet, in a few days I believe.
Do you happen to know if i'll get my period on the brown pills even if i have this breakthrough bleeding up until then?
and if you're on birth control pills and pregnant do you miss your period when it's time for the brown pills?

My guess is that you probably would get some type of period, but with it being your first month, with the bleeding you had, it's hard to say. I'm not sure on the pregnancy, pill, period question, it probably depends.

Take a HPT when you are on you inactive pills, that should put your mind at ease. If negative, start taking your next pack at the appropriate time and give it a few months. If the same thing continues to happen, put a call into your Dr and at least talk to one of the nurses.

I have been on the pill for about 3 years now and still try to play it very safe. When I first started, my period was messed up for a couple of months and I'm sure the bleeding is nothing to worry about. Although I am not sure if this is fact or fiction, I have always heard that it takes about 2-3 months after starting birth controll pills for it to be really effective. I would still use a condom for a couple more weeks if not a month or so.. better safe than sorry.

That's fiction. The pill (depending on the brand) take 7-30 days to reach its effectiveness. I recommend using a backup method for 30 days. It depends on what the person is comfortable with.

yes, thanks i've heard 7-30 as well. and i spoke to him we're going to use condoms AND birth control from now on until were ready to have children. thanks, i feel a bit better but have another question, lol. i take my pill AROUND the same time every day. would this greatly effect my chances of pregnancy? The pill package says take it at the same time everyday and I take it ranging anywhere from 5pm-9pm, will this increase my chances of being pregnant?

No, you are fine. A couple hours here or there is not going to do any harm. If you find yourself going from morning, to night, to afternoon, etc., then you may want to reevaluate when you are taking it, but within a 2-4 hour time frame is fine, IMO.
