Recently started birth control for first time

I recently started on Yasminelle for the first time. I took it about four hours after I got my period that day because I wanted to take it at time that would be easy to remember each day.I had my usual period on day1, 2, and 3. i was with my bf on the night of day 3 after starting on the pill, we didn;t have sex but I did have an org*** (not sure if that word is allowed to be written) after he manually pleasured me 9sorry to be so graphic wit this but otherwise I wont be able to explain my situation). Since then I've had intermittent bleeding (bloody mucous) but no major bleeding like I would have during my period and its now day 7 taking the pill.

I heard that its the norm to bleed for up to three weeks after starting the pill for the first time But since I was with my bf I havent been experiencing this.

Also, how long after starting on the pill is it safe to have sex and be protected from conception?

It is normal to have spotting at various times while on the pill. If after a few months you're still spotting, you may need to switch pills.

My doctors always told me to use condoms during the first month, so you can a full cycle and then you should be protected.

Ladies takng Yasminelle - Have you not read the news as of late? Lawsuits againts this manufacturer because WOMEN ARE DYING FROM THIS PILL???? Any form of birth control (using synthetic hormones) are very dangerous to your health. Trust me I know from being on them for 20 years. Oral contraceptives deplete your body of minerals and vitamins - which over time causes depression and many other less than desirable symptoms, put you at an extreme risk for breast cancer, gallbladder disease, liver disease, PERMANENT damage to your libido. This is a small list....THE DRUG COMPANIES ARE POISONING US!! All in the name of the almighty dollar!! No one has stopped them...but we ladies do have choices. Over 12Million ladies are taking the BCP/Patch/Shots for all sorts of reasons and I am telling you you can choose natural methods instead of putting these toxic, carcinogenic pollutants in your body. It is not natural to suppress ovulation - it takes away from your womanly essence and natural being. Not to mention it comes at a very high price your health. All the little ailments you have, take a closer look and you might find out the truth! High cholesterol? thyroid problems? Fatigue? Depression? Moodiness? Digestive problems? Lack of Libido? Weight Loss/Gain? Larger breasts? Migraines? Gallbladder Disorder? Yeast overgrowth and infection? Should I keep going?

I have been off BC for 1 year and 3 months and I have had an uphill journey with my health due to taking the BCP for all those years. I will never take that garbage again and I pray that more women will become aware of the poison they are putting in their bodies.

Best wishes to all you ladies that are suffering. I encourage you to take control of your health and your body!! Peace~

I've been off of it for around 5 months now. I went off of it for health reasons too, had just about every side effect known to man at some point in the 10 years I took the pill. Glad to hear you're off of it and doing well also.

Firstly ur concern about bleeding is natural but as previously mentioned this is normal & should settle, & yes u are protected if u start taking the pills on the 1st day of ur cycle.
Secondly plz don't be put off by the poisonous pill comments - in an ideal world a 100% effective, natural form of BC that is also 100% user friendly would be available - but it isn't - we are all different, & u have to find what suits ur body & ur lifestyle.
Some people never find a hormonal method of contraception that is ideal for them (myself included, I have an IUD) but they are certainly not "very dangerous to your health" & do not put you at "extreme risk of breast cancer" - they do infact protect against ovarian cancer & the overall risk of getting any form of cancer whilst taking a combined pill is less than if you weren't taking one!! As for ovulation, there is no need to do this & then have a period each month - in those good old days before the drug comapnies corrupted us, women ovulated much less that we do, as they were either preganant or breast feeding & then died younger, their bodies worn out from it all!!
I will concur that a progetogen only Bc runs a higher risk of PMT type symptoms, loss of libido, mood changes, sore boobs etc, but many of these BCs have no effect on ovulation so it's not a good argument.
Take ur time to get used to this pill (3 month at least) & if ur not happy after this make a change. Remember that the health risks of pregancy are not to be taken lightly, & as natural methods of birth control are notoriously unreliable, ur pill cud just be ur new best friend not the enemy!! XXXX
