    IUD concern

Hello, I'm new to the board, found it doing a search of my "issue".

I have had an IUD for about two years (paraguard) and haven't had any issues with it until recently. My boyfriend at the time I got the IUD couldn't feel it. I have been dating someone else for awhile now and we recently stopped using condoms and he CAN feel the strings during intercourse, it even cut him!

#1 I'm concerned because it's not supposed to happen and does that mean it's out of place (I don't check it like I should, I don't even know how to tell if it's in place or not). If it's out of place, does it still work?

    #2 it's embarassing!

    HELP!!!!

Dont be embarressed ! Its probably not out of place. He must be larger than your last boyfriend. My husband could always feel the strings no matter what position and even after the dr cutting them shorter. Without the IUD my husband would hit my cervix during intercourse and also needs the magnum condoms so I know it was a size issue. Ask your dr if he can cut them shorter. It only takes a minute to do !

      Cut with caution.

I totally agree with Sharlene. Just wanted to add that you should be careful about cutting the strings because once you cut them, you can't go back. My threads were cut very short. They sometimes get 'sucked up' into my cervix making it difficult for me to check them. So tell your dr not to cut them too short.
