Help!!!!! My hair is falling out
Hi, I am 25 years old and was taking birth control for almost 10 years. About 4 months ago I decided to stop since I did not want to be on hormones anymore. In the past 4 months I have lost 10 lbs with no change to my diet and my hair is falling out in large amounts. Has anyone else experienced anything like this after going off birth control? -
I haven't experienced the hair loss, but I think its just a side effect of your change in hormones. Maybe you should speak to your doctor, they may have some advice about vitamins or change in diet that might help that. Some women do lose weight after going off the pill, mostly because there isn't as much water weight as when on them. I would suggest talking to your doctor before this becomes a serious issue. -
I lost LOTS of hair while on the pill.
Did you gain weight while you were on the pill? Just wondering if your body is regulating and trying to get back to normal, where it was before going on the pill.
Try picking up Super Potency Biotin at your local walmart or drug store. It's not expensive and will help with hair regrowth. Take it daily.
How are you feeling otherwise?Comment

I too lost LOTS of hair while ON the pill, but I've heard of the reverse happening - of losing it while going OFF, too.
I agree with BD's advice, get some biotin in there, or better yet a really good women's multivitamin with biotin and a bunch of other helpful things in there.
It seems your hormones are really off right now, which is no surprise as you've been on birth control for so long, including during your developmental years. My guess is that your hair loss and weight will stabilize once your body finds its footing again. For me, it took my body close to a full year to get back on a natural rhythm after I went off the pill.
I know it's freaky, losing your hair, but my guess is that this is only temporary. Do go to some kind of doctor/specialist if you can, but be VERY selective about who you choose. SOOOOO many doctors HAVE NO FLIPPIN CLUE about birth control, side effects, and women's issues in general. This includes female doctors. It's horrendous, honestly.Comment

Its likely from the estrogen in the pill...the BCP is really bad for you. I was on it for 20 years and it shut down my own natural production of progesterone. After a year and a half off, I still have not started my own production. I have to supplement with natural progesterone to keep myself balanced. I would get off that garbage if I were you!!
PS Natural progesterone will help with hair re-growth (that was one of my symptoms as well)Comment
