    Pregnancy and the Pill.......?

If a woman is on the pill, takes it regularly, forgets a pill one day, has unprotected sex on the day she forgets her pill, and takes two the next day...... wouldn't the chances of her becoming pregnant be really slim?

I'm not talking about myself, so don't freak.

Yeah I mean even on the little manual that comes with the pills it says that if you take two the next day you don't have to worry about using a second method of birth control. When that happened to me I never worried. However apparently the protection lessons significantly if you miss two days in a row.

      Mes is right,
Usually 1 missed dose is perfectly fine. You just double up the next day. No need for additional protection. 2-3 missed pills however will need a backup method. Some people say that on low-dose bcp 1 dose missed is enough to reduce efficiency but I don't think you can ovulate in 1 day of a missed pill, no matter the dose. Of course everyone's body is different, and I'm not a doc.

I guess the thing to do is to read your pill packet and see what it tells you to do in this situation.

The reason I asked is because this guy I'm "talking to" and I were talking the other night and some how the conversation turned to birth control (lol...strange topic for a first date yea yea...wine was involved) and he told me about how his ex girlfriend told him after they broke up that she had gotten pregnant but miscarried and tried to make him feel guilty for not "being there" for her, even though she didn't tell him about it until 6 months later. Anywho, he said he always had this doubt that it was even true. He said she was on the pill, but had missed a day, and it just happened to be the day they were seeing each other (they had a long distance relationship). They slept together once that day.

It sounded fishy to me. Because she never told him about ANY of this (including the missing the pill part) until 6 months after they broke up and she was using it as some sort of guilt trip. I could tell it was something that really bothered him or he wouldn't have brought it up. I told him there's a high chance she was doing it to get attention from him and make him feel bad for her.

So I was thinking about it this morning again and thought I'd run it by you gals to see how likely you thought it was true.

Um, yeah... I'd call BS on that little story. It has guilt trip written all over it. The hormones are built up in the body, so very very unlikely...

Now while it's nearly 100%, sometimes people can get very lucky and still get preggers. For instance my friend who was taking the pill religiously wound up being pregnant and not knowing it for a few months when she started getting pregnancy symptoms. But as they say, it's not 100%.

But considering that your friend told him 6 months after the fact, makes me think that it was BS. If she were truly preg I think she would have told him a lot sooner. Sounds like guilt trip to me.
