First time birth control user
I will be starting Ortho-Tri-Cyclin LO tomorrow. It is my first birth control pill and I was just wondering, I have read online that after your period when you start taking the pill that you should wait 7 days while taking the pill before you have unprotected sex. Does that still apply to me? Or should I wait the month that my doctor recommended? Just to make sure that the pill is fully in my system? I have a boyfriend whom I do not see all the time becuase he lives two hours away from me and when we get together we have a lot of built up sexual tension between us. I cant just let him give me oral without going all the way and visa versa. Its just not happening. I dont have that kind of control and I'm not not many other people do. What should I do to be safe? -

Yes you really need to wait the month like you were told to do. it won't kill him to use a condom for a while longer..Comment

THanks ladies that did help me. I just wasnt sure. I do not need any un-wanted pregnancies. And since my "directions" packet didnt tell me if I should wait 7 days or a full month, I'd figured I'd ask. I remember what my doctor told me but I just wanted to make sure from others who were on it in case I was mistaken. Yes better to be safe than sorry.
