    Nuvaring questions and concerns.

Hey everyone i'm new, I had a few questions about the nuvaring. Here is my situation.

I've never been on birth control before and my doctor suggested i go on nuvaring (because i'm forgetful and wouldn't be able to remember a pill) for my bad periods. I used to get really sick a week before my period and have heavy painful periods. So i started the nuvaring the 13 of October (right after my appointment like my doctor suggested. My period ended 2 days before i started in case you need to know that). I felt perfectly fine for the first week then i started to get sick. i took out my ring nov. 3rd for my period week and i still feel kinda sick and no period yet. I did have unprotected sex the 23rd and 30th. So i'm a little worried because i'm skeptical about birth control because i never used it. I am also worried about my habits of taking really hot baths and how the ring should not be around hot water. I know i might be worrying over nothing but this is new to me so i'm concerned. so my questions are:

I know it says 2-3 days for my period to start, would it ever be any later or not come at all?

Is it normal to feel sick on nuvaring for the first month?

Because i did the "quick start" method will that make a difference in my first period being on the nuvaring?

I greatly appreciate any responses i get, I have till the nov 6th for the 3 days to be up. If i don't start then i'll get a take home pregnancy test to make sure i'm not pregnant then call my doctor. I understand i should consult my doctor but I guess the anonymousness of the internet is comforting to me. I'll keep up to date for those that are googleing questions about the nuvaring and are too scared to ask.

    Thanks in advance

Just thought i'd update on my situation so i might get an answer sooner:
I haven't started my period yet, I'm feeling really sick now and i'm cramping badly. I took a pregnancy test and it came out negative. the first line (the negative) was very light so hopefully i didn't do that wrong. I noticed before i took my test that i had a very faded brown color on my pad you could barely see it. Not sure if thats my body attempting to have a period or not. I'm guessing my body is adjusting to the new hormones. I called my doctor and the office is closed today so i'm not having any luck. :/ if someone else is having the same problem or has any information about the nuvaring that seems useful i'd greatly appreciate it. thanks in advance

I too was on the nuva ring for 8 months and it took the whole week for my period to come. I usually got it the day before I had to put it back in sometimes I didn't get it at all. Everyone's body is different but I will tell you after all the birth control I have been on the nuvaring gave me the most pregnancy scares out of all them. Its because I skipped alot of periods for no reason and I finally had to be put on a different type of birth control because of some issues I had that came up with a previous csection. If your 7th day comes by I would put it back in and wait till next month and you should have a period I skipped periods every other month it seemed like. I ended up takng a pregnancy test every month though and it got expensive. I would talk to your OB about it and see what they have to say. They may suggested a IUD or something else that can be inserted. Good Luck let us know what happens!!

        Nuvaring Help

I have been on Nuvaring for a few years and it has taken up to 5 days after I’ve had the ring out to start my period. Some months it only takes 1-2 days and then other months I will start spotting a few days before I’m supposed to take it out. I had a problem taking the pill because it made me very sick, but this has worked for me (other than getting a headache from it every once in a while). If I don’t have the ring in for a month or two, my periods are so painful I have to take a prescription strength pain pill. Since you noticed some spotting, that probably means that you have started your period by now. My periods are alot lighter than when I wasn't on birth control. Hope this helps, even though it's a little late.
