    my options

ok here is my problem, I am currently only a temp at the job i am at so therefore i have no insurance and go to the local health department. i am 30 years old with one child and have tried several different forms of bc. i have done depo, levelan 28, the patch and now sronyx. I hated depo it made me depressed and gain like 30 lbs, levelan was ok but i did get pregnant within 2 months of being off, and now both the patch and sronyx give me unbearable headaches and some numbness. any suggestions from anyone? i can usually remember to take the pill, but i am already a little chubby and do not want to gain weight, plus i smoke and honestly love sex so i do not want that area to suffer either.

There is the option of an IUD. Small, "T-shaped" device inserted into the uterus to prevent pregnancy, is safe, effective, and long lasting. It sounds like your body doesn't respond well to hormones, but there are two different types of IUD's. Mirena, which is hormonal that gives you the same hormones as the pill or there is Paragard, which is a copper IUD that has no hormones, but is just as effective at preventing pregnancy. You can have Mirena in for 5 years and be protected and the Paragard can be kept in for 10-12 years and be protected. For more information I would check out Planned Parenthoods website about IUD's. Will give you lots more information.

It does sound like a non-hormonal method is definitely your best option. I'm not sure what non-hormonal options are available other than the diaphragm and the cervical cap. I think the cap is a great alternative and when I get ready to become "active" again, I'm going to give it a try.

          Google: Cervical Cap

There's one called FemCap I believe.

I'd go into greater detail but I'm at work.
