If I miss a pill, can it affect the date of my period?

    hi.
I missed my pill on Tuesday and took it the following morning (10am approx) on Wednesday 17th as well as that days pill. I had sex with my boyfriend Friday (19th) afternoon I am expected to come on today (Sunday 21st). It has usually started by 8pm and it hasn't yet.

Can a late pill taken the following morning change the day/ time my period will start? Also if I take the morning after pill tomorrow morning (monday 22nd), would it still take affect?

    Many Thanks

The Plan B or morning after pill can affect your cycle. By missing one pill could change your cycle but I wouldn't think it would affect it too much. If you're more than a week late, take a pregnancy test. If you have taken your pill everyday from that point on, why would you need to talk the morning after pill anyway?

Oh and the morning after pill needs to be taken within 72 hours, but the sooner you take it the more effective it is...

thanks for your response. I missed the pill Tuesday and had sex Friday. The reason I am concerned is that i have heard that the pill can be unaffective up to 6 days after skipping one? is this the case?

No, if you miss one pill and take it the next day along with the pill you take for that day, you wouldn't need a backup form of birth control. If you missed 2 pills in a row, then that is a little different. By missing just one and taking it the next day the chances are SLIM that you would get pregnant, especially if you continued to take the rest of your pills at the right time.

ok thanks alot. My period has been clockwork for years, is it a common thing for women to occasionally start later than expected? are there many deciding factors?

Thanks very much for your help. much appreciated.
