Well........it depends on your situation. Hormonal BC caused me all sorts of issues too. I went off, bought myself a copy of "Taking Charge of Your Fertility" by Toni Weschler (which I very highly recommend), and began charting my cycles. In addition to that, I use condoms, but plan to try out a diaphragm in the near future.
The copper paragard is a "non hormonal" option but many women complain of the same types of symptoms resulting from the copper. I was not willing to try that after 10 years of bad bc side effects.
There are other options out there. But first, get yourself a copy of that book. It will open up a new world of understanding and opportunities. -
I would definitely not get mirena if you are having problems with other forms of hormonal birth control. It will just be an expensive, painful, and more difficult way to get the hormones you tend to react badly to in to and then back out of your system if it goes the same as the pills. Personally I love hormonal birth control but some people do not react well to it or take a long time finding a pill that works for them.
The paragard might be a good option. There are also other barrier methods besides condoms just as diaphragms and cervical caps. Planned parenthood puts out a big brochure with all the different types of birth control listed along with their effectiveness percentage.Comment
