Loestrin Pill - Taking for 3 months in a row.

I have just started the Loestrin pill, and took two strips without a break. As it is a slightly weaker pill would it still be dangerous to take the 3rd strip before having my 7 day break?

I have had some breakthrough bleeding/spotting which i've read is common with this pill.

    Thanks

I'm am unsure what you mean by "strip". Please explain. Are you asking if you can skip your "period" pills and start a new pack so you don't have to have a period?

Yes, you can do that.....but I do not recommend taking the pill in any other way than what is prescribed to you. If you start messing around with how and when you take them, you'll end up with a very confused body and lots of yucky side effects.

Strip as in the 21 days. I'm on Loestrin 20, which is just the standard 21 pills 7 day break. I've been told it's fine to take two months worth without a break, and shouldn't take more than 3.
But I was curious as to whether there are extreme side effects from taking all 3 months without the 7 day break, or whether it's just advised not to do often.

I'm doing a lot of travelling next week so having my period would be very uncomfortable as I have heavy periods, and i've read in the first few months of taking Loestrin it can cause periods to last a lot longer than 7 days which would be very inconvenient this week! :P

Taking the last strip of placebo pills will give your period. The only reason they are in the pack is to give a woman her period so she knows that she has a regular cycle, and to also check if a woman is pregnant (no period in placebos = check for pregnancy). It is fine to skip the placebos but it is not recommended to just keep skipping them month after month after month. Some women may have an event coming up and they do not want their period to happen during that time so they skip the placebos and keep taking the regular active pills, that is fine, just do not make it a habit.
