Questions regarding birth control and my first week of sugar pills.. help please!

Okay, so I've been pretty sketched out about my birth control since the first time my boyfriend came inside me. I'm starting my sugar pills tomorrow, so of course we won't have sex until I'm off them/off my period.

However, is it normal to not have a period while on birth control? I'm on Lo-Ostregel and I know you're supposed to have one, but I was just wondering if it was at least semi-normal for a girl to not have her first month's period. Keep in mind that I haven't started my sugar pills yet.

What should I expect while on my period? (Cramps, breakouts, moodiness, etc.) Also, when should I expect to get my period?

    Thanks!

    Hey liz-e,
It is possible for people to stop having their periods while on the pill if they had very short and light periods before starting however a majority of woman will continue to have their periods every month while on the pill. The number of days after starting the sugar pills will vary depending on your body. For me personally it can take up to 4 days of the sugar pills for my period to show up.

However, remember that stress may delay your period so stressing about your boyfriend cumming in you may delay your period and cause you to stress more. Personally if I get nervous I just go out and get a pregnancy test, you can probably get them free from a clinic if your budget is tight. That way you know whats going on in your body and you can focus on relaxing and just wait for your period to show up instead of stressing. However if you dont get your period by the end of the sugar pills you will want to go in and see your doctor to double check.

The pill may increase or decrease any symptoms you may have had before and once again is different for everyone.
I also wanted to mention that is safe to continue having sex while on the sugar pills and you still have the full protection of the pill during that week. However, if your boyfriend cumming inside of you causes you stress or worry you may want to use a condom as a "back up plan" against pregnancy.
However! Enjoy and I hope this was helpful!

      Thank you!

I am pretty certain that I'm not pregnant (no signs of it or anything like that), but the thought of it still irks me. My period tends to be relatively short but the flow varies, so I don't think it'll disappear.. or at least I hope it won't. But it's normal to not start my period on day one of the sugar pills, right? And will my period last even after my sugar pills are done, or will it stop immediately after I start taking the actual birth control/estrogen pills again?

      Thank you again.

It's different for everyone. Don't stress. Just see what happens this month. Chances are the same pattern will repeat month after month on this brand

            Hi,

Usually it takes two or three days of inactive pills--depending on the particular pill and the particular woman--for your period to start. it may also be a little different for your first few cycles.

Likewise, your period may continue even after you start your new pack. But many women experience lighter and shorter periods on the pill so it may be over by the time you start your next pack. After a few months you'll probably be extremely regular and will know exactly when to expect it to start and stop.

It is as safe to have sex during your inactive pill week as it is at any other time of your cycle, so don't feel the need to avoid intercourse during that week on those grounds alone. My fiance and I often have sex during my inactive week and I' haven't gotten pregnant yet. :-)

Sweet. I had some pretty awful nausea and stuff like that when I first started the pill, but it ebbed off after a while.. do you think that'll happen again?

And I started my sugar pills/inactive pills yesterday and have made sure to take them as normal. Used to, before I'd start my period, I'd cramp beforehand. I'm experiencing a little cramping, a tad of a breakout, and some bloating like I used to. Is this a pretty sure-fire sign that I'm about to start?

Its completely possible for nausea to continue but it will be predicable and you will be able to plan around it. I find taking the pill at night right before bed helps because then youre asleep by the time the nausea kicks in.
Yeah it sounds good, dont worry about it but be prepared for it to show up.

Well.. I'm on day four of my sugar pills and still nothing. I've been cramping some but it still hasn't showed up.. not a good sign, I don't think. I mean, you're not supposed to ovulate while on birth control, right? So I shouldn't be pregnant? Starting to freak out a bit. ):

                    Hey liz-e,
Have you been stressed/drinking enough water and such? If you are stressed it will delay your period. Go out, get a pregnancy test. Or get your BF, best friend, mother, older sister or anyone else you trust to go get you one.
Take it. If you are pregnant it will show up as pregnant and then you can go from there, if it comes back negative just relax and listen to your body.
