Early period because of missed days of birth control?

    Hi there,

I've been on birth control (Kariva) for years now. Unfortunately, this past Friday and Saturday night I forgot to take my last two (non-placebo) in my pack and had sex with my husband Sunday morning. I realized my failure to take them a couple hours later and took the last two - but proceeded to have spotting and cramping that night and now (Monday) again, I'm cramping. I usually always get my period Wednesday. Please let me know if I could be pregnant - we aren't prepared for this. Should I start a new pack today - or is it too late? I usually start them Sundays...

    Thanks!

You will most likely get your period a little early. Wait for the 7 days like normal, and continue with the new pack -- you'll just be on a different schedule than before. As an extra precaution if you're worried, you can take a HPT in a few weeks, but if I were you I'd wait until your menses is due again and see what happens. Because it was the end of the pack and not middle of it, there shouldn't be an issue. (I did it ALOT when I took the pill..... I usually didn't end up taking the last 2 or 3 pills in each package, but I definitely wouldn't recommend that....)

I've been there. I don't know anyone that it HASN'T happened to, but that's why we share what we know. Hope you're feeling better!
