Hi. So almost 2 weeks ago I started back on birth control after half a week of my normal period because my doctor told me to do it that way, so I shouldn't be getting my period, but After about a week of normal pills, I had sex and now I'm getting a dark brownish red discharge. Is my birth control not working now or is it an infection. Please help. I'm really scared and only 16.

Dark brown is old blood. Not all the stuff is pushed out during your period leaving some behind and as a result could be pushed out on a later non-menstrual day.

I usually get dark brown for about a week after my period. Also it could be from your body adjusting to the new hormones. Usually birth control pills need 10 days to be fully effective. How soon after you started taking the birth control pills did you have sex? I don't think it's related to the sex, but I am just wondering.
