Sprintec 28 day and severe mood swings

I have always had very very minor mood swings (like PMS) for my whole life, but over the past year they have been unbearable. I have been on Sprintec 28 day birth control for a year and a half now. I think that's what is making them worse than they ever were before. I am just not to sure. A week before, during , and after my period I seem to not be in control of my moods to well. It gets worse every month. I can go from really happy to extremely depressed and crying or even so angry that I want to tear everything apart in just a few minutes. It can even take hours for me to get back to being happy again. This goes on and off consistently throughout those weeks. It is driving myself and my husband crazy. I try to do the things I love to do but once I get upset it's so hard to bring my mood back up. Anyone have any tips on how to control these mood swings or what I should do? I feel like I am going insane. I read the side effects that you could get from Sprintec and it said "rare but serious side effect...mental/mood changes" I will be calling and asking my Doctor tomorrow to ask them too.

I have had almost the exact same reaction (but with extra side effects) with Levlen ED (I actually just posted a thread about it). It has made my life very hard for the past three or four months and has had a very bad effect on my relationship. I am set off by the most minor things (sometimes nothing at all) and cannot stop CRYING!!

My only reccomendation is to stop taking the pill. I stopped taking it a week ago and already feel much better and my moods have improved. Perhaps find some other means of contraception, maybe non-hormonal?

    Hope this helps

I was actually on Sprintec as well as one point and noticed the same thing. Now, I didn't have to bad of mood swings but I did find that I lost interest in a lot of the things I liked to do. I had more of a dizzy side effect than anything else while on that pill. I would get dizzy spells and everything fairly frequently. Needless to say I'm no longer on Sprintec nor any other pill.
