  • I can't feel my IUD strings?!?!?

I had my Mirena implanted in August 2009. I check my strings once every month and have always felt them. I also haven't had a period since about sept-oct 2009. Well at the beginning of the month I had some very light bleeding for a little over a day. Kind of weird but didn't think anything of it. I went to check my strings a couple days ago and can't find them. My fiancé also can't find them. I have been reading up on all sorts of things about this issue and I am freaking out. I can't get into the dr until january 10th. Just wondering if anyone else can give me some feedback on this?

  • ive had two mirenas... ive never felt the strings... my old one the strings turned up and they had to do a d and c to get it out but they left it in for the full five years... said it was no big deal.. i have a new one and i cant feel the strings eaither...

    • Hi, I am experiencing this same problem. I have it 2 years now and all bleeding stopped pretty much immediately after it was inserted. Just yesterday I noticed some very light bleeding. I checked my strings tonight and I could not feel them. I feel what feels like a small plastic thing, but not what the strings felt like. Any one have any ideas??
