I had my Mirena implanted in August 2009. I check my strings once every month and have always felt them. I also haven't had a period since about sept-oct 2009. Well at the beginning of the month I had some very light bleeding for a little over a day. Kind of weird but didn't think anything of it. I went to check my strings a couple days ago and can't find them. My fiancé also can't find them. I have been reading up on all sorts of things about this issue and I am freaking out. I can't get into the dr until january 10th. Just wondering if anyone else can give me some feedback on this?

ive had two mirenas... ive never felt the strings... my old one the strings turned up and they had to do a d and c to get it out but they left it in for the full five years... said it was no big deal.. i have a new one and i cant feel the strings eaither...

Hi, I am experiencing this same problem. I have it 2 years now and all bleeding stopped pretty much immediately after it was inserted. Just yesterday I noticed some very light bleeding. I checked my strings tonight and I could not feel them. I feel what feels like a small plastic thing, but not what the strings felt like. Any one have any ideas??
