    Birth Control Question

after years of taking birth control, I stopped because of how unbelievably moody it made me. I took 4-5 years off, and now I'm back on it. I'm in my 4th week of the pack, when you're supposed to get your period, and I haven't gotten it yet. This is my first month back on it, and since I haven't taken it in quite some time, I don't recall if not getting your period for the first month is normal. Google hasn't helped, either.
Additionally, I have had unprotected sex in the past month (while taking the birth control, however).

Yes yes, I'll take a pregnancy test. But in your experience with birth control, have you ever missed your period in the early months of just starting BC? Perhaps my body needs to adjust?

I remember being really messed up when I stopped taking it but can't really remember when I went back on it. How "late" are you? It wouldn't surprise me if it is just messing with you. BC scripts specifically say that, as long as you do not miss a day, there is no need for extra control. There isn't even a need until you miss 2-3 days. So, as long as you were taking it as directed, I don't see anything wrong.

Something to remember - stress can mess with you as well. If you are worried about your period, you may be doing yourself a disservice by worrying. Stress can do a number on your hormones and result in abnormal periods. There are just so many things to consider when your cycle is messed up it's almost impossible to tell.

I wouldn't bother with a pregnancy test until a week or so in. There is one brand (forget which one) that can tell 5 days before but I don't know about the accuracy. I've always heard that the woman is better at telling. My sister said she could tell within 24 hours. Went to the OBGYN bc she had literally just stopped taking bc (like that month) and she said there was no way she could be preggers...lol whoops!

Sorry I can't be of more help :-/

Yes it is normally happened with many women that birth control pills may stop the periods or have irregular periods.
