unresolved question about the depo provera shot

So I have been on PLENTY of birth controls in my short 10 years of having my period (I am 21 fyi), and recently just found out I am extra sensitive to estrogen.

But that is not why I am on here. I want to know if anyone else has had the same issues as I did when taking the shot depo provera.

You see I was on regular birth control, and was having HORRIBLE headaches & mood swings out of nowhere. So I decided to try the depo provera shot. The first shot went great, no period for three months; the second shot went great, no period for three months; but the third shot halfway through was horrible. I had my period for two months straight!! I than canceled my fourth shot because I didnt want it no longer. I had gone to the doctor & they didnt do **** for me. They just said "If your period doesnt end come back." This was when I had my period for 3 weeks straight!! Well I never came back cuz my sister's wedding was coming up & I was helping out with that.

So I went back in at the 7 week marker & they did an ultrasound then & they said my uterus was slanted & there was nothing to worry about, everything looked fine. BUT I didnt have my period for 9 months after that!!

Has anyone else had 2 months of period & than 9 months of no period due to the depo provera shot?

I had a bit of random spottiness for the first year I was on it. Not like full flowing period, but just a light one here and there for months. Then after that, I never had a period or spotting again.

Depo is such a finicky BC. Some women (like me) had zero trouble with it, and other women had the depo wreak complete havoc on their bodies.

I agree with the above, it does seem to be very finicky! I'm sorry you had to go through that, and I agree with your decision to stop using it!

Have you considered switching to non-hormonal methods like condoms plus charting your cycle, etc? Sounds like your body (like mine) is not handling any sort of hormonal contraception well. After years of struggling to find something that worked for me I gave up, went back to charting/condoms and am happier (and have more money ) for it.

kmonte85 - It was full out period for 2 months!

Mes T - Yea I wish my obgyn told me it was finicky! If I had known that I wouldnt have done it. I hate condoms, I always end up getting rashes down there when I use condoms. I am actually currently on a birth control that is called lo loestrin fe & it works wonderfully. Down side it costs so much money (75$) when I usually only paid 10$ .... but I have a nice new doctor that gives me the samples for free till they come out with a newer cheaper one.

I have no trust on depo provera shot. In first shot I always feel stress by sometimes bleeding stops and then starts. I don't know the exact reason.

I was simula to you... On the pill, horrible mood swings/depression. Switched to depo, worst decision ever!!!!!!!! I only had one shot, first month - great, no period!!!... Then it hit - 4month straight period It would be like a "proper" period, start to look like it was going away after a few days, then it would like come back, so on. Didnt even go back for the 2nd shot. Like Mes T, just use condoms now haha
