Well my first concern would be when I first got on it, I was taking antibiotics. But from different souces I read that Amoxicillin doesn't affect Nuvaring. Just to be safe, I waited a day or two to have unprotected sex AFTER finishing the antibiotic. This was probably 3 or 4 days after starting Nuvaring.
Another concern, from multiple sources I've heard to wait AT LEAST a week to have unprotected sex when starting birth control (even Nuvaring) so it become effective. But on Nuvaring's official website they say to put it in the first day of your cycle (Which I did) and it will work immediately and no other back up is needed.
Me and my fiance have been having a ton of unprotected sex. He has been cumming in me maybe twice a day. We are both a little concerned about me getting pregnant. He didn't have much faith in the birth control to begin with. He at the moment, seems chill about me possibly being pregnant. He already thinks I am.
I am concerned. I do not want to be pregnant really. I am very young. I would love to build a life, get married, buy a home before any of this. If I did end up pregnant, we both say it would be for a reason and I'd happily take care of the child. My friend just said her cousin got pregnant and she was using Nuvaring.
Is there anyone educated enough on this topic to calm my nerves or at least give me honest information? Thanks.

Basically if you have been on Nuvaring for more than a few weeks it is going to be completely working as it should. Birth control does work nearly immediately that first day of use, there is no delay action with the pill or ring or anything it is simply once it is in the place it needs to be then the molecular stuff goes right to work. However for your body to become used to seeing the pill or the ring or whatever the method is can take a little while. And in that little while, which is entirely subjective in duration, the body will become used to seeing the chemicals and settle into a happy rhythm more or less. The reason doctors and pharmacists often say to wait to have sex or to use a condom when starting birth control is because of the numerous people that do get pregnant and basically they yell saying it is not fair they were pregnant when they thought it was working 100% absolutely instantaneously....it is not absolutely instantaneous in the sense of your body being used to the chemical. That is the key part, the molecular part of the drug itself is absolutely working and doing it's thing but how your body reacts to that can take a week or more to get used to and hence the chance of getting pregnant in that time.

The best thing to do is simply to take a pregnancy test if you think you are pregnant. The chance of birth control failure after it has been in your system and you taking it regularly is literally like 0.01-1%....so extremely low. But yeah if you are concerned then take a pregnancy test and know that as long as you use the ring properly and regularly you are protected.

Yeah, I've been on Nuvaring for a little less than two weeks. I do believe it would have been smart of me to wait it out a bit before unprotected sex.
I haven't missed my period, so I'll wait for that and see what happens.
